Calgary Fasteners & Tools Ltd. (CalFast) is a Calgary-based hardware store with 3 Calgary locations and sister stores across Western Canada. With over 40 years of history, they are a premier provider of fasteners and tools for commercial and industrial clients with a focus on serving the trades.

CalFast has had decades of success with its retail locations across the city serving large commercial accounts and independent contractors. However, they wanted to continue to grow their company by increasing online sales. With Covid and the rise of online ordering, they wanted to be able to offer the same convenience as their competitors while maintaining the friendly customer service and community that is experienced with every store visit. Furthermore, they wanted to reach more customers and be able to compete with the online sales of their competitors.

We did a deep dive into their website analytics and reviewed competitor websites as well as the sister-store websites to determine how we can improve the online shopping experience. Through our analysis, we were able to advise on improvements to offer customers easy searching for products, and a streamlined checkout process that eliminated a number of steps and barriers to entry. In addition, we supported social media activity to promote in-store offers but also share the community culture of its employees and customers inside the store. We launched and maintained several ad campaigns at a time to target various promotions, products, and brands and were able to provide them with a 3x return on their ad spend.
