One of the easiest ways to follow up after the sale is to show gratitude. Saying thank you builds your relationship with customers and sends them the message you appreciate their purchase and gives you an opportunity to deepen their commitment to your brand without asking them to do anything in return.
✍️ Email – Email is a common way to express gratitude after the sale. The benefits of email include being fast and easy, but your email may get lost in a sea of other emails and remain unopened. It may also seem impersonal or insincere to your customer since email has become commonplace.
✍️ Snail Mail – Sending a card or note of thanks has more impact than it once did. As email has become more common, fewer cards and letters are being sent via post. Sending a thank you note in the mail can be great as long as it is handwritten. Many people discard mail that looks like junk mail or appears to be sales-related.
✍️ Texting – Texting has become very popular and can be a highly effective way to say thank you. Depending on your market, they may be very responsive to texting, while some customers may not be tech savvy.
✍️ Phone calls – Calling someone after the sale can be one of the most effective ways to say thank you. There is a risk your call will be unanswered or sent to voice mail, but a well-crafted voice mail can be very effective and make as big of an impact as a conversation.
As humans, we often base decisions on our emotions. So, how can you tap into your audience’s emotions?
💻 Using Honesty and Authenticity
The things consumers look for in a business have changed dramatically over the years. These days, they prefer to deal with brands which operate with honesty and authenticity.
When you can prove that your company is honest and authentic, it can develop a powerful bond between you and your audience. Don’t over-promise things that you can’t deliver on. You’ll also want to make sure you back up your brand messaging with the right actions. This is what proves your authenticity and helps to build up trust.
💻 Use the Art of Storytelling
This could be talking about your own personal experience of a problem and how you overcame it with your products. As the audience reads through your story, it helps them get to know you a little better.
💻 Show a Little Empathy
If there’s one thing your audience really wants, it’s empathy. They want to know you understand the issues they face. Rather than just trying to sell your products, explain why you’re offering them.
Also commonly referred to as social influence, social proof relates to people trusting the opinions and experiences of others. They follow what others are saying and doing, especially when faced with the unknown.
This term was created by Robert Cialdini, who states that we view a behaviour as correct if we see other people doing it. There have been many studies carried out to support the powerful effect social proof can have in terms of business. So, how exactly does social proof work in business terms?
How Does It Work? ⚡
When consumers are searching for a product or service, they are more likely to look for reviews before making a purchase. They look to see what experiences others have had when buying from the company they are looking at. They trust these reviews and ultimately base their own shopping decisions on them.
You’ll also see social proof at work in physical stores and restaurants. If you walk past a restaurant and it’s packed with diners, you’ll automatically think it must be a great place to eat. This increases the chances you’ll want to try it out yourself.
If others are raving about your company, you’re going to find that a lot more new customers are attracted to you.
Porta Ice designed the ultimate Canadian product - a mini ice resurfacer - to give a visual, this of a mini Zamboni!
Chris came to us with a dream. He had an idea for the mini Zamboni but had no idea how to brand it or market it. Part of the challenge was there was little or no competition. No one knew this product existed, therefore no one was searching for it.
We were challenged with creating a brand around Chris’s idea and finding a way to market it - just in time for ice season!
This was a passion project, so we worked closely with Chris to create the logo and branding. We used the Porta Ice prototype Ice Resurfacer (the Ice NV) as the inspiration. After establishing the brand direction, we:
🧊 Created logo decals to go on the machines
🧊 Arranged a photo and videoshoot to capture product shots
🧊 Launched the website
🧊 Created a product spec sheets that we could share with interested buyers
Slowly the media took notice. Chris’s little dream had taken off, and he was invited to Paul Brandt’s Canadian Classic Game to resurface the ice during halftime!

The goal of this website was to showcase the various industries TRAXX served and created systems that would put website visitors in touch with the correct department depending on the type of transportation they were looking for.
